From the beginning and since 4 generations, KOK MAISON have always been passionate for natural fibers, weaving and traditional know-how. We like to create furniture from rough and wild plants, enhancing traditional know-how and news technics.
KOK Maison is a family business since 1926
When the founder, Pieter KOK, left everything behind and settled in France in the early 20s, the family history of rattan furniture manufacturing (a specialty from Noordwolde, a small Dutch Friesland city, where he came from) had already been a tradition for 2 generations. Despite several fires, the 30s economic crisis and the WWII occupation, Pieter KOK (it name has been changed to "Pierre" KOK then) worked hard and ran a successful company.
KOK MAISON in the 70s
Pierre KOK's daughter Annie KROL and her husband Gérard, took over, modernize and internationalize the company.
Exotic rattan, which symbol is the famous "Emmanuelle" peacock chair, was very trendy. KOK Maison launched successfully its "Philippines cane" collection, which got lacquered in all colors and enhanced with leather ligatures.
Since 2004, Pierre KOK's granddaughter Tina LEDI, has been developing the company.
She designed herself a great part of the KOK Maison furniture and extended the range tosynthetic rattan for outdoors, Lloyd loom weaving and recycled teak. Very concerned about environment and sustainable development, she is very careful about the material used in the collection and the manufacturers' social policies.
2015 : KOK Maison open a new chapter in its history by allowing sales of the entire range on its website for end customers.
2018 : KOK Maison launched Orchid Edition, a new brand of high-end design rattan furniture.
This new project renews traditional rattan codes and technics and enhance the great know-how of rattan craftsmen.
