The Gingko Bulles rattan armchair combines extreme lightness with exceptional strength, thanks to the use of a small-diameter but very dense and robust variety of rattan. The arrangement of arches, scrolls and ligatures contributes to the strength of the whole as much as to the harmonious lines of the rattan armchair. The frame is made from debarked rattan cane, and the seat is woven from rattan splinters and finished with a natural water-based varnish. Each leg has a nylon glide.

Lauriane Beaunier and Aurélien Veyrat drew their inspiration from the Japanese design of the 1970s, which was all about precision and lightness, reducing the use of materials to the bare essentials. This eco-design approach, which at the time was driven more by aesthetic considerations than economic concerns, is now proving to be astonishingly modern.
It all starts with the selection of the material. Of the 300 varieties of rattan available, ‘tohiti’ was chosen. It makes up for its small diameter with an exceptional density of fibre, ensuring that the rattan armchair of which it is made is exceptionally robust. Then comes the play of curves, interlacing and volutes, skilfully arranged by the designer to create a poetic silhouette, but also to square off, arch and reinforce the construction. The Gingko Bulles rattan armchair will always be a little flexible in use, but without flexing. Faithful to the Japanese spirit, our designers have given the Gingko rattan armchair compact dimensions, in line with European standards, but which may prove a little tight on the other side of the Atlantic. In the end, the Gingko rattan armchair weighs a record 2.2 kg only!
